CIVIL LIABILITY INSURANCE

The law stipulates that as the owner of a snowmobile, you must have a civil liability insurance contract for a minimum amount of $ 500,000 guaranteeing compensation for material or bodily injury caused by your vehicle. This insurance is mandatory for all snowmobile drivers, whether or not they are on the trail.

You have two options:

a) Buy your trail permit with insurance. You then become a member of the FCMQ and you are automatically the holder of Intact Insurance civil liability insurance valued at $ 1,000,000 and it costs you only $ 39.46 (taxes included). This amount is included in the cost of your trail permit.

If you had subscribed to the required insurance from another source, you may  wish to cancel the civil liability insurance included in your trail permit with insurance while obtaining a refund, fill out the form (at https://snowmobile.intact.ca/intact-forms/intactformsdb/webdrrcmotoneiges.do?action=web&lang=en) that Intact Assurances provided for this purpose. WARNING! You have a 10-day free review period from the day of your purchase. After these first 10 days, only the portion of the overpaid insurance premium can be refunded.

b) Buy your trail permit without insurance. If you had subscribed to the required insurance from another source, you may buy a trail permit without insurance. You will be responsible for insurance verification, administration and handling fees of $ 23 + taxes included. A period of 21 days for the receipt of your trail permit is necessary for verification and validation by the FCMQ. Please note that you are prohibited by law from riding on an FCMQ trail until you have received your trail permit and your sticker to affix to your snowmobile. You must go through the transactional platform in order to complete the process of purchasing access rights without insurance.

Pre-sale rate reservation

If you do not have the serial number and/or plate number of your snowmobile awaiting delivery, the FCMQ offers you the possibility of obtaining a “Pre-sale rate reservation” to take advantage of the pre-sale rate until December 9th 2021.

In order to convert your pre-sale rate reservation to a trail permit, you will need to return to your profile to convert your pre-sale rate reservation to a trail permit once you have your snowmobile information. Your trail permit will then be sent to you and the $1, 000, 000 liability insurance included in the trail permit will become effective on the date of conversation.
